This innovative approach extends the concept of Web services to an enterprise-class business architecture. Whereas Web services are a technical concept, enterprise SOA (service-oriented architecture) is a blueprint for complete and services-based business solutions. The architecture empowers all people participating in a business process, both inside and outside the enterprise. It manages all information relevant to the process and encompasses all systems important to the process - both internal and external, SAP and non-SAP. Enterprise SOA enables the design of a complete solution for a process - leveraging existing systems and applications while accelerating the deployment of new functionality. A crucial aspect is the composite application framework, which allows the integration of new and existing functionality into processes that can be configured and reconfigured across the value chain. SAP NetWeaver is SAP´s platform to enable Enterprise SOA.
