Neptune Orient Lines Standardizes IT Environment

Container shipping group streamlines business processes with SAP ERP Financials

Container shipping and logistics group Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) has launched a project to standardize and streamline its business processes on a common technology platform – SAP NetWeaver. The company will implement the SAP ERP Financials solution, and has also selected business intelligence solutions from Business Objects, an SAP company.

Container shipping group NOL, headquartered in Singapore, is ranked among the world’s top 10 for container shipping, logistics and maritime terminals. The group’s international locations currently use different IT solutions – but this is set to change. With SAP ERP Financials, each company in the NOL group will receive all financial information directly, reliably and in real time.

As well as the SAP solution for financial accounting, NOL will also implement the BusinessObjects Profitability and Cost Management application; and SAP GRC Access Control, an SAP application for governance, risk and compliance. In the future, master data will be standardized and synchronized with the SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management component.

The project marks the start of a strategic partnership between SAP and NOL. This close collaboration aims to optimize business performance and improve customer service by using standardized business processes and best practice solutions.

“The transportation and logistics market is dynamic and extremely competitive,” says Geraldine McBride, President and CEO, SAP Asia Pacific Japan. “With SAP solutions, NOL will enable an integrated business process platform; standardize its operations; collaborate with customers and partners; and respond to market changes with agility and speed.”
